Yejing (野境) is the brand run by Wang Hua. Like many of the “artisinal brands”, Yejing does not have a factory of their own. To quoute myself from the Meishan Wuyu listing, a similar outfit:

The brand was just that: a brand, without production facilities (to say nothing of a proper factory) of their own. They handled the initial material sourcing and final marketing, but not the steps in between. This was (and to my knowledge still is) typical for smaller Anhua heicha brands — not due to a lack of tea-processing know-how (or unwillingness to learn) but, more importantly, the complexity of the production process and the uncertainty of the market. (Try making a rational argument for each small producer setting up a proper qixing stove, modern brick-pressing machines, controlled environments for fermentation, etc.)

In the end, what matters is what’s in the cup. This is one of the better fuzhuans I have had, with just the right fermentation level to bring some mellowness to the robust tianjian grade leaves, while preserving the taste of ripe berries, slight plum and even some marzipan in the background. (Note descriptions are treacherous, especially mine; don’t hold it against me if you can’t find any marzipan!)

Liubuxi material.

Note: This tea contains golden flowers (Jinhua/金花) which may have been inoculated using wheat flour. Individuals with Celiac Disease or severe gluten allergies should exercise caution.
